Seniors honored at final Auburn practice
For 13 seniors, Tuesday was their final practice in Auburn. And it was on the shoulders of their teammates that many of the seniors left AU's practice fields for the last time.
"I think it's been a great ride," first-year head coach Gene Chizik said of the seniors that led AU to a 7-5 record this season. "Personally, as a coaching staff, I don't think they've could have done any more than they did. They hung in there when things were challenging. It's been a long road for them the last year because they were so used to the three or four previous years that were different.
"I'm really proud of those guys. I think they gave this football team everything that they've got."
Walter McFadden is one of the seniors that will be leaving the team after the Outback Bowl. The Pompano Beach, Fla., native looks back fondly of his five years on the Plains.
