Spring position previews: Tiger quarterbacks

PowerMizzou.com Missouri will open spring football in less than a month. Between now and then, PowerMizzou.com will take a look at every position on the roster headed into spring drills. We start the positional breakdowns with a look at the quarterback spot:
The Starter: This one's pretty simple. Blaine Gabbert had a sophomore season that stacked up fairly well againsg what Chase Daniel did in his first year as a starter. Gabbert earned the respect of his teammates and coaches by battling through an ankle injury to throw for 3,593 yards, 24 touchdowns and nine interceptions. There is a better chance that this is his final year at Missouri than there is that he loses the starting job.
The Backup Competition: Jimmy Costello held the job last year while Ashton Glaser redshirted. True freshmen James Franklin and Tyler Gabbert are on campus for spring ball and will make it a four-man competition this spring.
