Coming into the contest with Northwestern State, Memphis head coach Josh Pastner was extremely concerned about the classic "trap game" syndrome. It occurs all the time in sports, whether it be the high school, college, or professional level: a team gets a hard-fought win over a name opponent, and in both the euphoria of the current victory and in looking ahead to the game after next, they are lulled into a loss to a lesser squad.
