Tide lands elite 2012 kicker
Alabama's 2012 recruiting class is off to a fast start as head coach Nick Saban received his sixth commitment of the class Saturday. BamaOnline has learned via text message that Calhoun (GA) kicker Adam Griffith pledged his commitment to the Crimson Tide, choosing Alabama over offers from Vanderbilt, LSU and others.
Griffith, a 5-foot-11, 175-pound, hails originally from Poland but became an elite kicker shortly after arriving in Calhoun. This past season, Griffith connected on 50 of 51 extra points and was 9 of 14 on field goal attempts, including two from over 50 yards. All of Griffith's misses were from over 40 yards away and three of them were from 54 yards. Griffith also averaged 68 yards per kickoff with 43 of his 56 kicks going for touchbacks.
