Jack Meiners has seen this before.

A precocious freshman lineman arrives in Columbia and starts reaching out to the older players. By the time August camp starts, the freshman is now working with the top two units, competing for playing time. By the time the season begins, he's in the mix, ready for action and to contribute as need be in the rotation.
