SEC Is After St. Louis Linebacker

Trey Knes has been waiting for his senior football season at Parkway Central since before he got his driver's license.

"In middle school, our overall record was like 26-3 or something," Knes said. "We're all going to be seniors. All really close and good friends. It'll be a good season."

A year ago, the Colts came within one game of reaching the Class 5 state title game at the Edward Jones Dome, bowing out to eventual champion Kirkwood in the semifinals. Knes, an aggressive linebacker with terrific size at 6-foot-5 and high-Division I potential, anchors the Parkway Central defense. With Junior Day visits to Illinois and Minnesota already under his belt, he'll head to SEC country for an LSU trip this weekend. Kansas State is involved in his recruitment as well.

Knes said he's not hearing as much from Missouri as the other schools on his list, but his brother attends MU as a student. Whenever the Tigers come calling, he said he'll be ready.

"They always have great linebackers," Knes said. "I'd definitely want to go there if I could."

He's also attended games in Columbia, so he's familiar with the program. For now, though, he's focusing on what could be a dream senior season.

"We've been playing together for a long time," Knes said. "We're gonna be pretty solid."

Now, the question is whether Knes catches the attention of Missouri. If not, he'll have other options- maybe even one of the Tigers' SEC rivals, depending on how his visit in Baton Rouge goes.
