Bruins Get Past Arizona
With Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, arguably UCLA's most valuable player, sitting out on Saturday with a sprained knee, Ben Howland needed his other regulars to step up their play, and that's exactly what happened as starting guards Arron Afflalo and Darren Collison combined for 36 points on 64 percent shooting and nine assists as the Bruins defeated 11th ranked Arizona (13-5, 4-4), 73-69 at Pauley Pavilion.
The Wildcats predictably played the majority of the contest in a zone defense, which slowed the action to a slow crawl as once again the Bruins couldn't figure out how to solve the look until there was about five minutes remaining in the first half.
