One committed late.

But for Quintin Richardson and Mark Barnes, the only Columbia-area players to sign with South Carolina Wednesday, the result is the same - they're both Gamecocks.

Richardson verbally committed to USC last April and stuck with his commitment despite overtures from a number of other schools, including Clemson.

"Once Steve Spurrier got in, everything went kind of smooth for me," Richardson said following a Signing Day ceremony involving five Spring Valley High School players inside the gymnasium.

"I went to all the games my junior year. The fans are crazy. I enjoyed myself. I'm ready to get a SEC Championship on the board."
