When the time came for Tanner Hawkinson to make a decision about his future, the 6-foot-6, 230-pound tight end from McPherson (KS) High School knew in his heart that playing for the Kansas Jayhawks was his one and only option. So, on August 16, the No. 4 ranked player in the state of Kansas put an end to his recruitment by giving the nod to Mark Mangino's squad.
"I just felt that it was the best time for me to commit to Kansas," said Hawkinson. "I just feel that Kansas is the best place for me and it's the best fit for me. I've always been a big fan of Kansas, but playing time and academics were also important when I made my decision. Everything about Kansas is perfect, so I decided to commit.
