In terms of making a commitment, here are approximately five types of recruits: those who choose a college early in the process, those who commit in the summer prior to the fall season, those who make a choice in the months following the season, and those who wait until Letter of Intent day. Of those five archetypes, Newtown Square (PA) Marple Newtown defensive end Pete Massaro fits into the second.

He currently holds seven offers, with scholarships from Pitt, Syracuse, Temple, Duke, Boston College, Connecticut, and Georgia Tech, and he is also hearing a significant amount of interest from Penn State.
