Cato talks about his decision
After coming back from his official visit to Iowa saying he was close to making a commitment, Texas safety David Cato did exactly that on Wednesday giving his verbal to the Hawkeye coaching staff. We caught up with the 5-foot-10, 190-pound Cato this evening to talk about his decision and much more.
Q: Can you talk about how your decision came about?
CATO: Well, I ended up making it yesterday. After I came back from the visit, I had made my mind up and I was going to talk to my family about it before I made a decision. I talked to them about it and I ended up deciding yesterday. I was going to call Coach Darrell Wilson, but he ended up calling it me, so that was a coincidence. While we were talking, I just ended up telling him. The coaching staff was real excited and so was I. It's a big thing.
Q: Going back, can you talk a little bit more about your visit to Iowa and what you liked?
CATO: I liked how they were very serious about football. It's very serious there and that's how I am at heart. I'm out working hard. You might not have the highly rated four-star or five-star players, but when you get players that work hard and want to do stuff right, they end up coming out as good as the four-stars and the five-stars. That's what I saw at Iowa, just players that want to come in and make an impact. It's not all about being a big prospect. I believe I'm underrated myself because I'm not very big, but I make up for it with my relentless key to the ball and hard work. I'll come in with that attitude.
