Kansas gets commit from top corner
Kansas assistant Je'Ney Jackson got his top target when Corrigan Powell said he wanted to be a Jayhawk.
Jackson was in a good situation recruiting Powell because not only is he the lead recruiter in the Garland area, but he's also the cornerbacks coach. So things worked out well in his favor while recruiting Powell.
"I was talking to coach Jackson on Sunday night and I was telling myself they were the first to offer me," Powell said. "If they were the first to commit to me then why shouldn't I commit to them. So I decided that Kansas was the place I wanted to be. They are a good match for me and that made my decision easy."
Kansas offered Powell shortly after watching him on film and seeing him perform at the Nike Training Camp in Fort Worth. Powell said Kansas was his only offer with interest coming from Texas, Miami, Florida, and Oklahoma State.
