Signing day for Dixon
College basketball's early signing period opened on Wednesday. The Missouri Tigers received just one letter of intent, but it was a big one. Point guard Michael Dixon signed his letter with the Tigers at a ceremony at Lee's Summit West High School at 2:00 p.m.
"I'm Michael Dixon," he told a crowd of about 250 people. "And I'm attending the University of Missouri."
Dixon had his parents with him and a number of his teammates and classmates. The point guard has been committed to Mizzou for quite some time and hopes to be a central figure in Mike Anderson's turnaround.
"I always liked watching them, that school was good and it's in my state. As I grew older, I was like, why would I go anywhere else," Dixon said.
"It couldn't have been a more perfect place," said Dixon's dad Michael Dixon, Sr.
Dixon's senior season will start in three weeks with a December 2nd game against Rockhurst. PowerMizzou.com will have much more on Dixon's signing tomorrow morning, including thoughts from Mike Anderson.
