Hood's first visit to Starkville
Three-star wide receiver Mardrecas Hood only took one official visit and it was to Mississippi State.
Even though the MSU campus is located 45 minutes from Hood's hometown in Reform, Ala., he had never visited Starkville before this weekend.
"The visit was about what I expected," Hood said. "We went to the (basketball) game and just went out and had fun. We got to tour the campus and stuff. It was exciting to get to see the facilities."
Hood, who attends Class 2A Pickens County High School, said the atmosphere at the Ole Miss-Mississippi State basketball game Saturday left an impression on him. Hood and the rest of the recruits were given a standing ovation when they entered Humphrey Coliseum.
"That was cool right there," Hood said. "I haven't ever had that much attention. I felt like somebody then."
The 6-foot-3, 180-pounder said he enjoyed getting to hang out with the other recruits that were there visiting. He also got a chance to speak with MSU head coach Dan Mullen before he left on Sunday.
