Increased interest for Arizona, DT
A.M. Allan
GoBlackKnights.com Defensive tackle, Tyeler Davison of Scottsdale (AZ) Desert Mountain has used the current Evaluation Period as a chance to enhance his recruitment. A number of new schools have recently come through the halls of Desert Mountain, including Army. Davison spoke to GoBlackKnights.com earlier this week about his overall recruitment, his upcoming schedule, and interest Army is showing him.
Davison, who comes in at 6-foot-2 and 275-pounds, finished his junior season with 62 tackles and 8 sacks. And with that, his recruitment, things have definitely begun to pick up.
"Right now I have only one offer and that is from UNLV," said Davison. "But also have Arizona State looking at me, Arizona, UCLA, Army, New Mexico State and I got a call from Air Force the other day and Washington State sending me a lot of stuff too."
When it comes to the Black Knights of Army, Davison's recruiting is being handled by wide receiver coach, Andy Guyader, who made a recent visit to Desert Mountain High School. "I spoke to Coach Guyader last week when came to my school," states Davison. "It was a nice conversation he talked about West Point and Army football and said that I would fit well into the team and scheme."
Two years ago, Army was able to pull in Arizona Defensive Lineman of the Year, Derrick Bisgard, who will be making his Army debut this season, and are hoping for similar results with Davison. "Yes, I've heard of him," shares Davison, who has made a comfortable adjustment to his new high school. "Last year was my first at this high school. My freshmen year I was at Washington HS in Phoenix and then my sophomore year I came to Desert Mountain."
Of all the teams that are recruiting the talented linemen, Army stands out by being the only non-West Coast team showing interest in Davison thus far. However, the Arizona prospect was quick to say that he was open to play anywhere and that location is not a major factor when it comes to selecting a college.
When ask to describe his style of play, Davison confirmed what most coaches have seen of him either live and/or his film. "I like to use my strength more," shares Davison. "The way we play I have a gap that I have to get and after that I like to get up the field and make things happen."
When it comes to summer camps, Davison will be attending the UCLA camp, Arizona, ASU and will attempt to make it to the UNLV camp.
Davison who has a max bench of 315 pounds and a 5.1 forty, is being looked at on both side of the ball either at defensive tackle or offensive guard.
He currently maintains a 3.0 overall GPA and took the SAT May 2nd.
GoBlackKnights.com will continue to stay in touch with Davison throughout his recruiting process.
