Hawkeyes offer Indiana RB
After rushing for over 2,000 yards this season, Indiana running back Jewel Hampton is steadily picking up more college interest. The 5-foot-9, 195-pound Hampton, who attends Indianapolis Warren Central High School, recently received his first major scholarship offer from Iowa.
The Hawkeyes are the second school overall to offer, joining Ball State where Hampton made an official visit to last weekend. Up next is a trip to Iowa City next week, which the running back finalized during an in-home visit with the Iowa coaching staff.
Playing behind Virginia Tech recruit Darren Evans last year as a junior, Hampton averaged over 10 yards a carry finishing with 513 yards and four touchdowns. With the backfield all to himself this year, the senior had a breakout season with 216 carries for 2,095 yards and 27 touchdowns.
Hampton was a first team all-state selection this year in Indiana's Class 5A.
