May 17, 2013With spring football over, recruiting takes center stage for Missouri's staff. Over the next week, PowerMizzou.com will break down Missouri's recruiting efforts position-by-position to see where the Tigers are looking to fill its 2014 class.
Today, we continue with linebackers.
1. How many will Missouri take?
Missouri signed two linebackers last season, and will lose two linebackers after this season. Because of that, we're expecting the Tigers to take two more linebackers in the 2014 class..
2. Who has Missouri landed so far?
Missouri has yet to land a linebacker commitment in the 2014 class.
3. Who's off the board?
Of Missouri's 15 linebacker offers, four are committed elsewhere. Shaun Dion Hamilton committed to Alabama, Kyron Watson picked Kansas and Gyasi Akem and Bryson Allen-Williams verballed to Oklahoma State and South Carolina, respectively.
4. Which recruits does Missouri have the best shot at landing?
At this point, Missouri hasn't been mentioned highly by many linebacker recruits. Two visited this spring -- Lee's Summit linebacker Jimmie Swain and Indianapolis linebacker Brandon Lee. Both spoke highly of Missouri afterward, but each seems willing to let the process play out.
One of the recent offers, Noah Furbush, is a Kenton, Ohio, native and a former teammate of Maty Mauk. That connection is there, but it's unclear how much that will play into his final decision.
5. Any long shots out there?
Right now, all of the four-star recruits at linebacker that Missouri offered should be considered long shots.
