A three-star shooting guard from Brooklyn (N.Y.) Bishop Laughlin, Carrington currently ranks No. 125 in the 2014 Rivals150.
Carrington is a natural scorer. What that means is that he is comfortable scoring off of the dribble, in transition and that he has a short memory when his shot is off. By all accounts, he should develop into a very valuable weapon for the Pirates and sooner than later.
Here's the interesting part. As Kevin Willard and his crew head into the new Big East, they are doing so on a recruiting roll that the program hasn't seen for a while.
Now consider this, as long as both players make it to campus without any issues and without a drop in performance, it will make the first time since the class of 2006 that the Pirates have landed multiple Rivals150 prospects.
This doesn't mean that somebody in the basketball offices needs to start clearing off space for recruiting trophies. But, clearly the Pirates are becoming more relative in the recruiting world and Willard's staff of assistants that includes Shaheen Holloway, Fred Hill and Oliver Antigua looks to be one that is built to keep that momentum going.
It is still on the Pirates to keep closing, but the early 2014 returns have to be a positive sign.
