Teaneck, N.J. - The coaches have nothing but praise for their prized recruits right now. The people around the players are convincing the recruits there is no one better in the country.
So, how about a little honesty about the performances of the top prospects at the Reebok ABCD Camp? We take a look at the good, the bad and the ugly that occurred. This job is easier because of the incredible effort made by camp organizers to provide reliable statistics.
Good: Mayo was the fourth leading scorer at the camp and shot 52 percent from the field. He also pulled down 4.4 rebounds per game from his point guard spot. He was also named one of four Campers of the Week.
Good: Walker was fifth in scoring at the camp and shot 69 percent from the field. He proved to be a lock-down, on-the-ball defender. He was also one of six all star game MVP's, making him the first three-time winner of the award.
Good: Love led the camp in scoring and rebounding with a combination of strength, hustle and pure shooting ability. Also a throw-back player, Love plays to win. He was named one of four Campers of the Week.
Good: Hickson scored 11.7 points per game while leading the camp in field goal percentage at 70 percent. He is impossible to guard one-on-one in the post, and he was named one of six all star MVPs.
Good: Aldrich is a big body in the post. Showed ability to block some shots and rebound.
Good: Allen averaged less than half a turnover per game. He also exercised quality shot selection while averaging just less than seven points per game.
Good: Flynn outplayed every point guard he matched up against and averaged less than one turnover per game. He was named one of six all star game MVP's.
Good: Jordan played with competitive spirit, heart and maturity. He averaged 10.9 points per game and scored 18 against Kevin Love. He was also named one of four Campers of the Week.
Good: Tucker scored 10.9 points per game and averaged an impressive 56 percent on 3-point attempts. His assist-to-turnover ratio was nearly 2-to-1.
Good: Legion was able to get his shot off whenever he wanted. He averaged 9.6 points and just 2.3 turnovers per game.
Good: Harden had a 2-to-1 assist/turnover ratio and averaged 10.3 points a game. He shot 68 percent from the field and 44 percent on 3-pointers.
Good: King was in the top 10 in scoring and rebounding at the camp. He competed well even if he wasn't scoring. He was named one of the four Campers of the Week.
Good: Tyus was in the top 10 in scoring at the camp and shot 53 percent from the field. Many of those shots were mid-range jumpers. He also ran the floor well and did some damage around the rim. He was named one of six all star game MVP's.
