In April, Taylor Davis committed to Tulsa. But in the back of his mind was an unofficial visit he made to Columbia, MO.
"I took a visit back in March," said the 6-foot-5, 270-pounder. "I just loved every single thing about Missouri. It was just a great place."
Because of that, Davis switched his verbal commitment from Tulsa to the Tigers late on Thursday night.
"The Missouri coaches were really excited about it," Davis said. "They just said they were really happy that I decided to come up there."
Davis called the Tulsa coaches to inform them of his decision on Friday morning.
"It was tough, but I feel relieved now," he said of the call to Tulsa.
Davis plays at Prestonwood Christian Academy in Plano. He said his high school team runs an offense almost identical to Missouri's spread attack and that his pass-blocking is the strongest part of his game. Bruce Walker was the Tigers' lead recruiter on Davis.
"I liked how nice and welcoming the coaching staff was," Davis said. "Also, I have the chance to play on a top team in the nation and one that is going to be good for a long time."
As for Tiger fans fearing another switch, Davis said that is a non-issue.
"I am done. This is it," he said. "I plan to take an official visit to Mizzou in the fall."
Davis becomes Missouri's 12th known commitment.
