Cook gives Mizzou a surprise commitment

It's already been a busy few days around the Missouri recruiting office, as the Tigers' "Night at the Zou" event resulted in four commitments and counting.

But on Tuesday night -- after Alabama linebacker Jamal Brooks announced his commitment -- Carrollton (Ga.) center Case Cook surprised just about everyone by announcing his commitment to Missouri.

The news was first reported by The Times-Georgian via Twitter. Cook confirmed his commitment to PowerMizzou.com.

Cook chose Mizzou over offers from 10 other Power-5 schools.

Cook, listed at 6-5, 290-pounds, is a 5.7 3-star recruit and the nation's fourth-ranked center, according to Rivals.com. He is the younger brother of N.C. State tight end Cole Cook, a player that Missouri offered in the 2014 recruiting class.

Cook had 19 offers, including ten from Power-5 schools. Some notables on his list were Miami, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville and Penn State.

Rivals.com Southeast Analyst Woody Wommack on Cook: "Cook is a versatile offensive line prospect who could play any of the three offensive line positions. We've ranked him as a center and I personally believe that might be the position where he has the highest upside. He's an athletic guy who moves well for someone his size and his older brother plays tight end at N.C. State so football is clearly in the family."
