Nero camps, lists Tide as a favorite
Atmore defensive lineman Tyler Nero made another trip to Tuscaloosa over the weekend, this time for the University of Alabama's offensive line/defensive line camp.
The 6-foot-3, 250-pound in-state prospect had nothing but nice things to say about the Crimson Tide's camp where he got a chance to work exclusively with UA defensive line coach Chris Rumph.
"Coach Rumph worked with me on technique most of the time," Nero said. "I'm used to bull rushing, but he taught me how to use my hands. It's not that I have a bad technique or anything, I'm just able to bull rush so I never really needed to use my technique a lot of the time."
Nero enjoyed meeting with the Alabama coaching staff in person, and felt the love from head coach Nick Saban.
"Everyone is helpful and nice," Nero said. "I think it says a lot about them (UA) that they want everyone to have a good camp and stuff. Coach Saban said he was thrilled I was there.
"I talk to the (UA) coaches at least once a week. I call them to check in and see how it's going."
Nero plans to camp at Arkansas, Auburn, Florida and Kentucky, and the Rivals.com three-star also holds offers from the likes of Clemson, Florida State, Georgia and Illinois.
Although Nero said he doesn't have a top five, he said that the Crimson Tide is "in the top", and he recently told Rivals.com that Alabama, Arkansas and Auburn are standing out.
It won't be until the fall before Nero commits because he wants to attend more camps and visit more schools before he makes a decision.
"I want to see everything schools have to offer," Nero said. "I want to make sure I make the right choice."
