Recruiting steady for 4* OT
Castle Rock (Colo.) Valor Christian offensive tackle Alex Kozan is getting plenty of recruiting attention. Playing for one of the nation's top-ranked prep teams has been a great showcase this year.
"We've beaten two of the top teams in the State," began Kozan. "We beat Grandview and Regis. Grandview is a semifinal team from last year in the class above us and Regis was the runner up in the class above us. Our team really has been clicking and has been doing great. We put in a lot of work in the summer and it has paid off." Wins the last two weeks over Rampart and Pomona have Valor Christian undefeated at 4-0 heading into Thursday's game against Pueblo South.
With a team deep and talented, Kozan is able to concentrate this season on the offensive tackle position. "I'm blessed in that we have a great D-line with three really good D-linemen. One of them (Michael Mann) is going to Arizona State, another will probably get a scholarship in the next year and the other will be a very good recruit the next year after that. So I don't have to play defense which is nice for me just to be able to focus on offense."
The 6-4, 295-pound four-star athlete has played on both edges of the line during his high school career. "I played as a freshman, started out the first two years freshman and sophomore at right tackle. Junior year I switched to left tackle and I'm playing that again this year. I don't have a preference left or right tackle. I just want to do whatever the team needs to help it win ball games."
On the recruiting trail, Kozan has a list slightly longer than the standard five.
