FSU hosts a surprise visitor this weekend

Florida State had quite an extensive guest list of official visitors on campus this weekend, including a surprise visitor that hadn't been mentioned prior to the weekend.

Four-star Miami Beach wide receiver, and Auburn Tigers' commit, Ricardo Louis confirmed to Warchant.com that he took an official visit to FSU over the weekend.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Louis, who also played defensive back in high school as well as wideout, said he arrived late Saturday night in time for desert at head coach Jimbo Fisher's house.

"I actually came during (Saturday) evening because I missed my first flight," Louis said. "Yes (I made it in time to go to Coach Fisher's house.) We watched the Broncos-Patriots game."

Louis said he is still committed to the Tigers but is looking around. He will take an official visit to the University of Georgia next week as well.

"I'm still committed but I've still got my options open," he said. "I'm still open."

He made the decision a few weeks ago to visit Tallahassee, because he the coaching staff has been on him since the start of the recruiting process.

"They still want me," he said of what the FSU coaching staff has been telling him. "They've been there since day one so why not give them a chance."

The other reason he still had the Seminoles on his mind is because of the relationship he
has with FSU quarterbacks coach and recruiting coordinator Dameyune Craig.

Louis said that despite the fact that he committed to Craig's alma matter (Auburn) instead of FSU, that Craig has continued to check in on Louis' grades.

"Coach Craig, he wants the best for me," Louis said. "Ever since he started recruiting me, even when I committed to Auburn, he was still calling my counselor to find out how I was doing in school. I never got in contact with him like that during the season, but he was talking to my guidance counselor. He still kept in touch, and he told me that a couple weeks ago. I didn't even know. That showed he really cared."

Louis was hosted by fellow Miami native and sophomore safety Lamarcus Joyner during his visit. He also said he spent a lot time with fellow Under Armour All-Americans Mario Edwards Jr., Ronald Darby, and Nelson Agholor.

He said he and Darby had a particularly good bond because they are both in similar situations.

"He was committed to Notre Dame and then he decomitted because he wanted to open up his options, which is what I what I want to do," Louis said. "We were talking about how much we like Florid State and he was telling me if I go there that he would go there too. Just talked about how much we liked it basically."

Louis said he also had a good talk with FSU wide receiver's coach Lawrence Dawsey about the receivers role in Coach Fisher's offense.

The Rivals 250 receiver said he enjoyed every aspect of his trip to FSU.

"Everything," he said when asked what he like about the Seminoles. "The best thing is that it's in my home state. If I do come (to FSU), I get a chance to go see my family anytime I want to go down to Miami."

While he is still committed to Auburn, after a visit to FSU and a visit to UGA looming, Louis said he would make a final decision on February 1st.

"On Signing Day I'll decide where I'm going to go," he said.
