As Ohio State continues its efforts at landing a game-breaker at wide receiver, four-star Scottsdale (Ariz.) Chaparral athlete Davonte Neal seems to be the top remaining target at the position for the Buckeyes. Neal made his official visit to Columbus this weekend and returned home on Sunday evening. The long weekend and hours spent traveling took its toll on Neal who decided to rest up shortly after arriving home. BuckeyeGrove.com caught up with Neal's Father, Luke Neal, to get some clarification on his son's commitment status.
"He did not commit," said Neal. "I did not go along on the visit with Davonte and we really haven't had a chance to talk about it, he's actually sleeping right now and will be available to speak (to the media) tomorrow."
The elder Neal plans to discuss the visit with his son tomorrow as is usually the standard operating procedure coming out of visits for the Neal family.
"We usually don't talk about football and stuff like that right after a visit," he said. "We'll sit down and talk about the (Ohio State) visit tomorrow."
Neal had previously made an official visit back to Notre Dame in December and will visit Arkansas next week. Arkansas, Notre Dame, and Ohio State are considered to be the top three choices for the electric receiver but some more visits could potentially be on the horizon.
Neal is coming off a huge senior season for Chaparral that saw him catch 60 passes for 1,300 yards. He is ranked the No. 146 prospect in the nation by Rivals.com and the No. 3 prospect in the state of Arizona for the class of 2012. BuckeyeGrove.com will have a more in-depth story with quotes from Neal tomorrow.
