The Ohio State football program has been on a roll this week on the recruiting trail, already grabbing a pair of commitments from four-star prospects. The Buckeyes hosted another outstanding prospect from Sunday through Tuesday of this week in Bloomfield (N.J.) offensive tackle Marcell Lazard. The 6-foot-6, 293-pound prospect came away impressed by the Ohio State campus.

"It was good," said Lazard of the visit. "The campus really (was the highlight). It's a beautiful campus, it's probably the most beautiful campus I've seen."

Lazard left Columbus still an uncommitted prospect but says he nearly pulled the trigger for Ohio State before leaving.

"I was thinking about (committing)," he explained. "I really wanted to. I'm going to sit down with my parents over the next two weeks or so and think about (a college decision)."

Lazard's main recruiter at Ohio State has been offensive line coach Ed Warinner and he got to spend a good portion of his visit building that relationship.

"I probably spent the most time with coach Warinner," he explained. "I talked to coach (Mark) Pantoni and coach Warinner's GA, coach (Kirk) Barton, and that's about it."

Lazard saw his stock soar during the winter, picking up nearly 20 verbal offers from some of the nation's top programs. After getting a chance to take some visits and do some research, Lazard says he is currently sitting on a top three.

"I've got a top three of Miami (Fla.) and West Virginia, along with Ohio State," he said. "I'm done with visits as of right now."

Lazard commented on what has each school in his top three and all three programs seem to bring similar things to the table.

"Ohio State is a great school, great academics, great coaching, and it's a winning program," he explained. "(On Miami) also their campus, their location, great coaching staff in my opinion. (On West Virginia) it's pretty much the same thing as the other two."

Lazard is rated a three-star prospect by Rivals.com.
