Peyton Barber update

Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton running back Peyton Barber is keeping his cards close to his chest.

He claims scholarship offers from Clemson, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Purdue, South Carolina, UCF, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest. California and Wisconsin are also showing interest in him. However, Barber said none of those schools have an edge above the rest.

Barber, who is rated as a three-star recruit by, hopes to narrow his list of schools down in the coming weeks.

Lonnie Galloway is recruiting the Peach State product for the Demon Deacons.

"I definitely like the school [Wake] a lot," Barber said. "I'm interested in going up there sometime to see the campus and everything. Coach Galloway seemed like a pretty cool guy when he came to [my] school."

"We basically talked about how they needed running backs and how I would be a good fit for their offense. He told me that I would have a chance to play as a freshman if I did good. They said they would use me as an every-down back."

Education, immediate playing and a feeling of home are the main factors that will influence Barber's decision.

A high ankle sprain forced Barber to miss most of the season, limiting him to a meager 400 yards and four touchdowns rushing.
