One of the best in the west for class of '08
There is a very good argument that New Mexico, known as the Land of Enchantment, may have the most enchanting quarterback in the west and maybe in the whole nation for the class of 2008 in Landry Jones (6-5, 215, 4.7) from Artesia, N.M.
Jones was recently named New Mexico's State Player of the year after hitting on 211 passes out of 310 attempts (68%) for 3,432 yards and 45 touchdowns against only nine interceptions. He can also makes plays with his feet as he rushed for 294 yards on 57 carries and scored nine touchdowns.
That's a pretty good year at the office for the young gunslinger from New Mexico.
Another intriguing thing about Jones is he could be a December graduate and thereby could play spring ball for the lucky school that gets his signature.
Jones is definitely thinking about making the push to get it done academically to graduate next December but he wants to talk to his parent's and his councilor at school about it.
Jones has offers on the table from Colorado, Oregon, Virginia, New Mexico and New Mexico State. His early list of favorites is UCLA, Oregon, Colorado, Oklahoma, Miami and Virginia.
