A Closer Look at Florida A&M

Second-ranked Kansas, the top seed in the West Region, will face the winner of Tuesday night's play-in game between Florida A&M and Niagara on Friday at 6:10 CST. Having played a number of big-time opponents early on, the Florida A&M Rattlers got off to a slow start, but finished strong by winning the MEAC postseason Tournament Championship. Jayhawk Slant is here to provide you with a closer look at Florida A&M.

Despite playing in the MEAC Conference, Florida A&M has faced some tough competition this year. The Rattlers lost to Maryland, Miami-Ohio, Illinois, Bradley, Florida and Pittsburgh, but were competitive in a number of those games.

For Florida A&M, it all starts upfront with Rome Sanders, the 6-foot-8, 240-pound center from Chicago, Ill. He's currently averaging 15.6-points and 6.0 rebounds per game. Should Kansas face Florida A&M in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday night, look for Sanders to get involved early in the game.

Sanders is big and has the ability to make things happen in the low-post area. Leslie Robinson, Darius Glover and Brian Greene will look to score from any and all locations on the court.

If Sasha Kaun, Darrell Arthur, Darnell Jackson and company frustrate Sanders early on in the contest, look for Robinson, Glover and Greene to try and beat the Jayhawks from the outside and by dribble penetration.
