Calhoun, Johnson continue to roll

The senior season of the Sooners 2008 committed class is well underway and many of the members have gotten off to strong starts for their individual teams.

Perhaps the most impressive start has been that of the No. 1 player in the state of Texas, Van running back Jermie Calhoun. Calhoun continued to roll this past weekend, but things did not go ideally. After Van, Texas starting quarterback Blake Pennington went down with an injury in the second quarter, Calhoun was forced to step in as quarterback of his team. At the position he completed 6-of-10 passes for 103 yards, but it wasn't enough for Van, who suffered first their first loss in a 48-28 upset by Lindale.

Oklahoma running backs coach Cale Gundy was in attendance to see Calhoun rush for 131 yards on 22 carries for three touchdowns. He also caught four passes for 46 yards and a touchdown in the Vandals loss.

The Sooners other commitment at running back had a bit more success with his team as Gilmer, Texas star Justin Johnson carried the load in his teams 35-12 victory over Daingerfield. Johnson got off to a quick start by taking a 19 yard run in for a touchdown on the Tigers first drive of the game. He finished with 14 carries for 166 yards and two touchdowns.
