Chalmers: I love KU
Standing inside the Marriott Hotel for Big 12 media day, Mario Chalmers looked as cool and calm as ever as he approved the podium to meet with a large group of members of the media. While the 6-foot-1, 195-pound junior guard was relatively quiet for much of the time, Chalmers eventually opened up and spent some quality time with Jayhawk Slant.
"Practice is going pretty good so far," said Chalmers. "We've just kind of got started, but things are going pretty well. I am very happy with how things are going in practice."
If his first two seasons in Lawrence are in indication of what's to come, the future certainly looks bright for the Chalmers. During his freshman season, the Alaska native averaged 11.5-points per game, which was second highest on the team.
As a sophomore, Chalmers averaged 12.2-points, which was again second on the team. From the moment Chalmers first stepped foot on campus, great things were expected from the former McDonald's All-American.
As is the case with every freshman, there were some bumps along the way, but there is absolutely no question that Chalmers, to date, has had solid career. With his junior campaign already underway, the talented guard couldn't be happier with his decision to attend Kansas.
