Smith sets up first two official visits
One of the top 15 ranked prospects from the Sagebrush State this recruiting cycle, Charles Smith currently holds scholarship offers from Idaho, San Diego State, Colorado State, Wyoming and UNLV.
Boise State and Oregon are also showing interest.
"I have my first two official visits scheduled," explained the 6-foot-6, 235-pound defensive end prospect from Las Vegas (Nev.) Desert Pines. "I'm going to San Diego State the weekend of November 30th and I'm going out to Idaho on the 7th of December."
What are Smith's impressions of the Aztecs and Vandals going into those trips?
"I like the coaches at San Diego State and I love the location," he said. "With Idaho, I feel like they are on the rise and I feel like that would be a good place for me to go. The coach told me I would have a great chance at early playing time."
Smith also has high interest in Boise State.
"They are pretty interested in me from what I can tell," he said of the Broncos. "They are waiting on my senior film so they can evaluate me further. I would like to take a visit up there."
Smith and his Desert Pines teammates are set to play at Del Sol in the first round of the playoffs this Friday. During the regular season, Smith recorded roughly 50 tackles and eight sacks.
Smith was a first-team all-conference and second-team all-state selection last season as a junior.
"I have good quickness and I try to take on the mentality that no one can block me," he said.
