Hawkeyes visit Lincoln duo

With the contact period underway, the Hawkeye coaching staff is hitting the road this week to visit recruits all around the country. Locally, in Iowa, that means in-state recruiter Reese Morgan is stopping by many of the top high schools in the state, including a visit to Des Moines Lincoln on Monday to talk with Adam Robinson and L.J. Gamblin.

While the Hawkeyes have yet to offer a scholarship to either player, both have long been on their recruiting radar going back to last year when Iowa landed four-star defensive back Jordan Bernstine out of Lincoln.

This season, the 5-foot-9, 185-pound Robinson earned first team all-state honors as a defensive back after collecting 33 tackles and three interceptions. On the offensive side of the ball, he had 123 carries for 1,064 yards and 13 rushing touchdowns to go along with 18 catches for 215 yards and four receiving touchdowns.

At 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, Gamblin could project at either linebacker or defensive end in college and is receiving interest at both positions. As a senior, he earned elite all-state honors after racking up 94 tackles, including 17 for a loss. In addition to Iowa and an offer from UNI, Gamblin is hearing from a handful of Big 12 schools.
