Staten picks the Hawkeyes

One week after making his official visit to Iowa City, Brooklyn prospect Khalif Staten has made a verbal commitment to the Hawkeyes. The 6-foot-3, 219-pound Staten made the call to the Iowa coaching staff earlier today.

Staten chose the Hawkeyes over a scholarship offer from Purdue, where he visited in November. A two-way player in high school, he finished his senior season with 875 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns on offense, and 25 tackles and two interceptions on defense. While Purdue recruited the three-star prospect at wide receiver, Iowa likes his potential on defense, likely at outside linebacker.
