Chavis thinking purple?

TCU has become a destination for young men seeking to be a part of something special. A dominating defense is just one piece of the puzzle that is attracting top notch talent these days. Blake Chavis, (6-5, 230) out of Beaumont(TX) Westbrook is taking notice. PurpleMenace.Com caught up with the dominating defender to get his thoughts on the Horned Frogs and the recruiting process.

"It's going pretty good right now, I'm just looking around, trying to find out what's best for me" said Chavis.

When asked about his connection to the Texas A&M program, he had this to say.

"Everyone thinks just because I committed early and because my brother goes there that I wouldn't go somewhere else. I would, the thing about A&M is it's the only campus that I've seen."

With an impressive list of offers that includes the likes of Texas A&M, Arizona, Iowa, UTEP, Mississippi St. and TCU, Chavis has options. Combine that with heavy interest from Missouri and it's easy to see that this young man has some game.

"Right now A&M, Missouri and TCU are my favorites, in no order" he said. "I'm visiting Missouri on 1/11/08 and A&M on 1/18/07. I would really like to visit TCU too but I haven't heard back from coach Tademy since he came down to see me and Marcus".

So what did coach Tademy have to say?

"He came down and pulled me and Marcus Malbrough out of class and talked to us. He said that his DE's, (Tommy)Blake and (Chase)Ortiz were headed to the NFL and that he would like me and Marcus to come take their places. I'm a big fan of Tommy Blake so it kind of excited me. Tommy is one of my favorite players. Marcus and I talked about it later and it sounds like a cool opportunity but we haven't heard back from Coach Tademy so we don't know what's going on."

Frog fans can only hope that Coach Tademy gets on the horn and calls these young men up to get them in for a visit. As for Malbrough, he is currently listing Iowa as his favorite. It's imperative for a programs prosperity that top notch in state recruits are maintained and not allowed to get away to out of state opponents. TCU is beginning to grab the interest of more and more high caliber targets and they need to close the deal on a few more to reach a championship level.

"I would definitely like to hear back from Coach Tademy, I want to see what TCU is all about. I will make a final decision after I've taken all of my visits."

Stay tuned to this story to see if the Frogs can reel in this prized recruit.
