Four-star athlete on the verge of a decision

Oklahoma's radar has been as hard to follow in the 2008 recruiting class has been as tough to read as [tm]Oklahoma[/tm]'s ever-changing weather. No player has been more on again and off again than Senatobia Northwest Mississippi C.C. four-star athlete Daniel Thomas.

Now though it seems the Sooners are very much 'on' with the former Ole Miss commitment, along with Oklahoma Thomas is also talking to [tm]Baylor[/tm] and [tm]Kansas State[/tm]. The two schools he will be visiting in the next two weeks.

"I've been talking to pretty much those three schools. Coach Bobby Jack Wright called me last week and he was telling me that he'll be coming by to see me next week," Thomas said.

The Sooners were showing him attention through most of the fall, and he seemed on the verge of choosing Oklahoma prior to Markelle Martin choosing the Sooners, and Oklahoma no longer having space for Thomas.

Following Martin's de-commitment the Sooners looked to Thomas again. Some have wondered if this might be a hindrance to Oklahoma's effort; not at all according to the Florida high school product.

"Oklahoma has been pretty consistent since then," he said. "It doesn't really have an effect. As long as I still have an offer, they don't have to call or anything(laughing)."

Thomas plans to visit Baylor this weekend and then will check out Manhattan, Kan. on Jan. 18 before making his decision.

"Those two along with Oklahoma are my final three schools," he said. "I'm going to make a decision before signing day sometimes after I get back from Kansas State."

However it seems that Baylor, and new head coach Art Briles, have a lot of ground to make up if they are to truly join the race with the Wildcats and Sooners.

"I know for sure, it's between Kansas State and Oklahoma. I want to see what Kansas State has," he said. "Baylor has some ground to make up."

Thomas is currently ranked as the nation's No. 33 junior college prospect.
