Running BackGilmer, TexasJohnson is already on campus, one of the surest ways for a freshman to find his way onto the field. However, he does arrive at one of the program's deepest, most talented, and experienced positions. The mixture of pure talent of Demarco Murray, as well as the experience of players like Mossis Madu and even more so Chris Brown will make playing time for Johnson immensely difficult as a freshman. Particularly when you add in the summer arrival of five-star running back Jermie Calhoun.Johnson's amazingly physical style of running lends himself to becoming a very useful player for the Sooners. It may be a year before he has fully physically developed into the 220-pound monster that had been claimed prior to his arrival in Norman. However, there is no doubt that he can carry that type of size on his frame and give the Sooners a real battering ram of a back that is a nearly a guaranteed three to four yards every time he touches the ball. It will be interesting to see if speed training with the Sooner strength and conditioning coaches can help him become a more explosive back.
