Kingma boosts stock at Desert Duel

PHOENIX - Friends of Hoop Seattle worked its way into the quarterfinals of the Desert Duel. In the process Brett Kingma made a strong impression on the coaches courtside.

Brett Kingma (Friends of Hoop Seattle, 2011)- Kingma is the type of shooter who surprises when he misses. In an upset win over the Dallas Mustangs, he hit a number of pivotal shots to secure the rim. As a 6-foot-1 combo guard, Kingma isn't going to beat with his physical prowess, but he is a savvy and skilled player with a little bit of a burst with the ball in his hands.

BYU (offer), Oregon and Pepperdine (offer) top his school list. Kingma is also intrigued by Vanderbilt, who just started recruiting him after watching him play in Las Vegas. The tie in with Vanderbilt is that Kingma is considering pursuing a music career.

Washington, Washington State, Boston College, Oregon State and Seattle (offer) are also schools of interest.

DeAndre Daniels (Belmont Shores, 2011)- Simply put, Daniels has developed into a complete player as a combo forward. His game reminds of Corey Brewer, except with a better jump shot.

Daniels maintains that he is committed to Texas, but it would be no surprise if his recruitment does eventually open back up.

Cezar Guerrero (Belmont Shores, 2011)- Once considered a right hand dominant gunner, Guerrero has significantly improved the weaker areas of his game. He is making plays going left, distributing the basketball to teammates and overall playing a much more mature floor game.

Surprisingly only Colorado has offered this talented lead guard. UNLV, Auburn, St. John's, Oklahoma, Oregon, Oregon State, Long Beach State and UCLA are showing interest.

Amir Garrett (Belmont Shores, 2011)- One of the more versatile and athletic wings in the class, Garrett continues to impress. He is terrific in transition, and he looked good shooting the ball Tuesday. Defensively, he has the tools to be a multi-positional stopper.

Also a standout pitcher, Garrett wants to play basketball and baseball in college. He is presently listing offers from St. John's, Oregon, UTEP, San Jose State, San Diego State, Arizona and Arizona State. He is also hearing from Georgetown and UNLV.

Savon Goodman (Team Philly 16-U, 2012)- A physically dominant forward, Goodman was on top of his game in a big win over Compton Magic. He used his size and athleticism to make plays in the interior while staying within himself and avoiding negative plays.

McKenzie Moore (Team 94, 2011)- At 6-foot-6, Moore is an intriguing prospect with his ability to handle and pass the basketball. Headed to St. Mary's, Moore is cut out of the same mold as former Tennessee player J.P. Prince.
