Redshirt report: Anthony Gatti
Just eight months after tearing three ligaments in his knee, a fully recovered Anthony Gatti made an impact on Missouri's coaches during preseason camp.
The freshman out of St. Louis established himself as one of the big surprises for the Tigers' early practices. Gatti moved up the depth chart, and by the end of camp, he worked with the second-team offense at left tackle.
With plenty of depth across the offensive line, however, Gatti took a redshirt.
PowerMizzou.com: What was your reaction to taking a redshirt, especially after the fall camp you had?
Anthony Gatti: "It kind of made me think a little bit, but you just gotta use all the techniques they give you, refocus and just use everything they give you to get back up there."
PM: Do you know what went into the coaches' decision?
Gatti: Well, I was working with the twos a lot, but then they told me they wanted me to redshirt and they moved Mark Hill up. I've been working in with the A's and B's (scout team) down here, just trying to get better.
PM: With more opportunities given to the younger players in these bowl practices, is now a good chance to make an impression with the coaches for playing time next year?
Gatti: Yeah, definitely. When you come out here, you gotta step your game up, otherwise you'll be left in the back. You gotta come out with all you can and show them what you can do.
PM: Have you had any residual effects from the knee injury?
Gatti: Nope, it's good. It's strong.
