Top 10: Interior scorers

MORE: Meyer's mailbag | Ask the Experts

Each week, Rivals.com recruiting analysts Jerry Meyer and Eric Bossi break down the top 10 in a different category. This week, they take a look at the top interior scorers from the 2011 Rivals150. As the game has evolved, true low post scorers have been harder to find and it really shows up in the 2011 class, which features several wing players among the top interior scorers.

1. Mike Gilchrist
School:
Elizabeth (N.J.) St. Patrick
The Buzz: The strength in Gilchrist's game comes from within 15 feet on the offensive side of the ball. His relentless competitive fire, quick feet and length make him the best interior scorer in 2011. He's too big for most wings and too skilled and quick around the rim for bigger guys.

2. LeBryan Nash
School:
Dallas (Texas) Lincoln
The Buzz: The Oklahoma State-bound five-star is an explosive athlete and nearly impossible to stop when he goes to work around the rim. His bounce, strength and skill with the ball are a lethal combo.

3. Chane Behanan
School:
Bowling Green (Ky.)
The Buzz: Although he lacks the ideal height of a power forward, the 6-foot-7 Louisville signee has a fully developed game. His strength and ability to keep defenders sealed are tough to stop when combined with his footwork, skill and touch as a scorer.

4. Cody Zeller
School:
Washington (Ind.)
The Buzz: The Indiana-bound Zeller is probably the most fundamentally sound of 2011's big men. He's got great feet, has counter moves when his initial move is defended and he's much tougher around the rim than people might think.

5. Anthony Davis
School:
Chicago (Ill.) Perspectives
The Buzz: A five-star forward who is on his way to Kentucky, Davis isn't your typical back-to-the-basket guy. He actually prefers to have the ball in his hands and is lethal facing the rim. However, his length, touch and feel for the game make him awfully tough in the paint.

6. Quincy Miller
School:
High Point (N.C.) Westchester
The Buzz: Miller's senior year was cut short due to a knee injury, but he deserves recognition. Like Davis, he's very comfortable with the ball in his hand and is most dangerous because of what he can do facing the hoop. However, he's also a pretty polished scorer with his back to the basket.

7. Otto Porter
School:
Sikeston (Mo.) Scott County Central
The Buzz: Still a relative unknown outside of the state of Missouri, the 6-foot-8 Porter is among the fastest rising players in the country. What he lacks in strength he more than makes up for with soft touch, clever post moves and length.

8. Branden Dawson
School:
Gary (Ind.) Lew Wallace
The Buzz: While the 6-foot-5 Dawson ultimately projects as a wing player, there's little question that he's among the most effective interior scorers in the country. He's athletic, plays much bigger than his size and is absolutely relentless around the rim.

9. Adonis Thomas
School:
Memphis (Tenn.) Melrose
The Buzz: Very similar to Dawson at No. 8, Thomas understands that few can stop him in the post. He's got a college-ready body, a well-developed post game and he doesn't seem to mind physical play in the lane.

10. James McAdoo
School:
Norfolk (Va.) Christian
The Buzz: One of the quickest power forward prospects in the country, the five-star McAdoo is another who prefers to face up and attack off the dribble. However, he's as instinctive as they come around the rim and has a nose for the ball, which leads to scores off offensive rebounds.
