Impact analysis: Treon Harris

Many critics believed after losing ace recruiters Eddie Gran to Cincinnati and James Coley to Miami that there would be a big drop-off in landing top prospects from South Florida. This afternoon, Miami Booker T. Washington four-star athlete Treon Harris dispelled that rationale when he announced his commitment to Florida State.

Unlike his brothers - Brandon and Tim Jr. and his father/high school coach Tim "Ice" Harris who played at the University of Miami, Treon is taking a different path. A very different path. He is headed to arch-rival, Florida State.

"That's the school I've liked the best ever since I was a young kid, so I committed today. Coming up I just loved FSU," said the Rivals250 prospect.

Certainly helping play a role in the recruitment was main recruiter at FSU, Tim Brewster as well as head coach Jimbo Fisher.

"I had a great relationship with Coach Brew and Coach Fisher. They both just made me feel at home last year when I was there. I loved everything about it and I'm excited to be a part of the family now. They were always straight about how much they wanted me."

Harris joins former teammate Matthew Thomas, a 2013 five-star linebacker and current freshman at FSU.

Harris becomes FSU's 18th commitment for its 2014 class and third commitment in five days after offensive lineman Corey Martinez and safety Trey Marshall committed to the 'Noles last Wednesday during the Opening event in Oregon. Harris is 5-foot-11, 180 pounds and the No. 4-rated athlete in the country.
