Polling PowerMizzou: Offensive MVP
Prior to the start of fall camp 2013, PowerMizzou.com is taking the pulse of Tiger fans. We conducted a series of polls on our premium message board over the past week. This week, we will publicize and analyze the results of those polls.
We asked our subscribers, who will be the Tigers' offensive MVP this season? Here are the results.
This was a three-man race all the way with a quarterback, a wide receiver and a running back combining to garner 93.9% of the 295 votes cast.
The winner, in a tight race, was sophomore wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham. Green-Beckham checked in with 116 of the votes cast to beat out quarterback James Franklin, who received 108 votes.
DGB caught 28 passes for 395 yards and a team-high five touchdowns in 11 games last season. He had an 80-yard score against Central Florida and came up with two late touchdowns in a 51-48 win over Tennessee, including a fourth-down grab that tied the game in the final minute.
Franklin battled injury and ineffectiveness as a junior. He threw for 1,562 yards and ran for 122 while playing in just nine games in 2012.
The third-place finisher, with 53 votes, was junior tailback Henry Josey. Josey ran for more than 1,100 yards as a sophomore before his season was ended by a horrific knee injury against Texas. The injury forced Josey to redshirt last season, but he is back atop the Tigers' depth chart as fall camp opens next week.
The rest of the roster totalled only 18 votes with only center Evan Boehm getting more than 1.02% of those cast.
