No contest in Nashville

NASHVILLE -- Missouri needed a minute and 17 seconds to score its first touchdown against Vanderbilt.

It didn't take much longer for the Tigers to turn a toss-up road game into a 51-28 blow-out conference victory.

Missouri led 20-0 less than 13 minutes into the game behind two touchdown passes from James Franklin and two field goals by Andrew Baggett. At the end of the first quarter, the Tigers out-gained the Commodores 171 yards to 39, despite running just two more plays.

Vanderbilt cut Missouri's lead to 13 points early in the second quarter, but the Tigers answered with a seven-play, 75-yard drive, ending in a five-yard touchdown run by Henry Josey.

The Commodores found their rhythm on offense in the second half, as Austyn Carta-Samuels completed his first eight passes in the third quarter for 126 yards and two total touchdowns. However, Missouri entered halftime with a 23-point lead, and the Tigers' answered two third-quarter touchdowns by Vanderbilt with scores of their own.

Missouri didn't punt until 9:52 remaining in the fourth quarter with a 44-21 lead. Vanderbilt scored on a quick three-play drive in the fourth-quarter, and again Missouri answered. After recovering an onside kick, Franklin threw his fourth touchdown pass of the night, a 26-yard lob to L'Damian Washington to give the Tigers a 51-28 lead that would double as the final score.
