Tuesday's Top Tigers

Tuesday's Top Tigers makes its return to PowerMizzou.com. A player's ranking one week has no bearing on his placement on the list the next week. Here is our take on the Tigers who had the best performances in the 51-28 win over Vanderbilt:

Tuesday's Top Tigers
1 James Franklin, QB At this point, we're considering making Franklin exempt from this list because everyone else is playing for second. 341 total yards, four touchdowns, no turnovers.1
2 Michael Sam, DE Sam had three sacks, winning the SEC's defensive lineman of the week award for the second straight week. Others are more celebrated, none are playing better. 2
3 L'Damian Washington, WR Washington had three catches for 86 yards and two scores, including the one that gave Missouri a lead just 77 seconds into the game. Neutralize DGB? Missouri has other ways to beat you through the air. 5
4 Markus Golden, DE If this kid is on the field, he's in the backfield. Six tackles, including a sack-and-a-half. NR
5 E.J. Gaines, DB At halftime, Missouri led by 23 points and Jordan Matthews had dropped as many passes as he'd caught. Yes, Matthews put up empty numbers in the second half, but the Tigers defended him well and Gaines was the main reason. 7
6 Donovan Bonner Bonner played his best game of the season, leading the Tigers with ten tackles and making himself noticed all over the field. NR
7 Eric Waters, TE Waters had more catches (3) in this game than Missouri tight ends had all season coming in (2). He scored a touchdown and also pounced on a Tiger fumble to keep possession. NR
8 Kentrell Brothers, LB Brothers had six tackles, but more important was his interception at the Vandy 26 that turned a good start into a blowout. NR
9 Henry Josey, RB Josey had a workmanlike 69 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries. And if you haven't been paying attention to how good he is helping in blitz protection, you should start. NR
10 Andrew Baggett, PK Three first half field goals, five extra points and another bushel of touchbacks. The kicking game has been shaky, but it was a big boost in Nashville. NR
11 Marcus Lucas, WR Lucas had a team-best six catches for 60 yards and a touchdown in what is turning into a heck of a senior season. NR
