Tiger Gameday Central

  • DON'T GET DOWN EARLY: Georgia got a big scare last weekend. It's unlikely the Bulldogs will be overlooking this game, especially at home. Yes, UGA is beat up, but they still have plenty of talent on the field. Missouri doesn't have to jump out to a huge lead early...but the Tigers can't fall behind by two touchdowns in the first quarter. If that happens, the Bulldog offense is too good to allow a comeback on the road.
  • HIT MURRAY...A LOT: Missouri has put up a dozen sacks on its last two games. But the Tigers haven't faced an offensive line like Georgia's. The Bulldogs, especially being beat up at running back and receiver, are going to put this game on their senior signal caller Aaron Murray. The sacks aren't as big a number as many think. You don't have to sack him. You just have to hit him and hurry him. If the Tigers can do that, are his receivers experienced enough to bail him out? I don't know. Mizzou needs to find a way to get to Murray and knock him down...and preferably take it away a couple of times. Murray has been great this year, but he's shown a penchant in the past to make a few mistakes.
  • DON'T RELAX: A lot of people (myself included) feel like Missouri is playing with house money. This isn't a game anyone expected Missouri to win, even as recently as last Friday. Teams can handle that one of two ways. They can go in loose, with all the pressure on the opponent, and play very, very well. But if the Tigers view this as a bonus game that nobody expects them to win, a letdown could find them down 21 before they catch their breath. It isn't a game Missouri has to win, but it is a game where the Tigers could earn a ton of respect if they do.
  • PREDICTION TIME: A week ago, I'd have put Missouri's chances of winning around three percent and picked Georgia by 24 points. But the Tigers showed me something in Nashville and you can't simply ignore the injuries UGA has (the equivalent would be Mizzou playing without Josey, Hansbrough, Lucas, Washington and Green-Beckham). But Georgia has plenty of talent in the replacement ranks and still has Murray and the offensive line. I think Missouri will put up some points. I just think they'll give up a few more. Georgia 38, Missouri 30
