Arguably the top High School football player in San Diego County this upcoming year is Serra High's Fevaea'i Ah Mu. This big defensive tackle is a load up the middle, standing 6-foot-1 and 290 pounds. He possess the size and quickness that makes blocking him almost impossible.

Ah Mu holds offers from San Diego State, Arizona, Washington, Washington State, UCLA and Colorado. While he claims that it is too early to name a favorite at this time, he does have a top five of San Diego State, UCLA, Arizona, Washington and Colorado.

Ah Mu would like to stay on the West Coast. "I am looking for a place where I feel comfortable with the team and the coaches. Playing time is also a factor," he explained.

So what does Ah Mu think of San Diego State? Well, he recently attended the Aztec's Big Man Camp and came away impressed. "I liked it a lot. The coaches were cool and I felt at home." Running backs coach Walter Gaskins is primarily responsable for his recruitment.

When asked how he would describe himself as a player, Ah Mu said " I am a leader on the field, I play with a lot of heart and I have a high motor. I don't stop." Always looking to improve, Ah Mu has been working on his strength and speed this off season. The hard work has paid off, as he improved his bench max to 340 pounds and squat max to 530 pounds.

Strangely enough, Ah Mu can credit his hours in the gym playing basketball as helping to improve his football skills. Basketball not only keeps this big man in shape, it also helps his footwork and quickness. Ah Mu is a power forward on Serra's basketball team and he has also thrown shot put for the Conquistadors.

Last season, Ah Mu totaled over 100 tackles, 10 sacks, 15 quarterback knockdowns, 3 forced fumbles and one 66 yard interception return. In addition to all-state honors, Ah Mu was selected his league's MVP, first-team all-league and first-team all-county.
