Pulley pulls the trigger

Kentucky picked up its third commitment in the 2005 recruiting class on Wednesday, according to a published report in the Lexington Herald-Leader.

Three-star Hopkinsville (Ky.) quarterback/athlete Curtis Pulley gave the staff his verbal, picking the Wildcats over offers from Wake Forest, Louisville, Indiana, Illinois, Marshall and interest from many others.

He is the third commitment in the class, joining fellow in-state prospects Trigg County lineman Kenny Ray Turner and Belfry defensive back David Jones.

Pulley (6-3, 186, 4.5) is a versatile athlete who passed for 2,264 yards and 23 touchdowns while rushing for 1,164 yards and 18 scores as a junior. He also had 10 pass break-ups and three interceptions at safety. Rated the No. 6 player in Kentucky and the No. 36 athlete in the nation by Rivals.com, he could project on either side of the ball at the next level.

Last month, Pulley told CatsIllustrated.com there were a lot of positives about UK following his camp appearance in Lexington.

"Kentucky's camp was fun," he said. "I did pretty well there. It was their three-day camp, and I got to work with coach (Ron) Hudson real close. He seemed like a nice guy, a real straight-forward guy when it came to teaching you about playing quarterback. And he told me that I fit in real well with what they're trying to do with their offense.

"I like the school a lot, it's close to home, and I've got some friends on the team. I think it's a good program."

More on Pulley with comments from the player and Hopkinsville coach Craig Clayton later today on CatsIllustrated.com
