EA SPORTS Elite 11 Quarterback Tracker

EA SPORTS is proud to present the EA SPORTS Elite 11 Quarterback Tracker, a feature which will follow the weekly progress of each of the 12 Elite 11 quarterbacks during their seasons this fall.

Jonathan Garner and his Mainland Bucs faced a tough matchup on the road in a Class 5A semifinal at undefeated Lakeland, but the Bucs recovered a fumble on the opening kickoff and Garner threw a 37-yard scoring strike on the first play from scrimmage to seize the momentum early. Unfortunately, Garner would only throw one more pass before suffering a right elbow injury which forced him to leave the game later in the first quarter. Without their senior leader, Mainland fought hard, but struggled on offense and was eventually overcome by Lakeland, 28-7.

Garner should recover just fine in a few weeks and plans on playing in CaliFlorida Bowl VI on Jan. 2nd, along with fellow Floridian EA SPORTS Elite 11 signal-caller Harrison Beck. Between now and then, Garner, who is still committed to Florida but checking into some other options as well, will take a recruiting visit to Michigan this weekend. The 6-4, 205 pound lefty also plans on checking out South Carolina and Ole Miss as well.

Joe Cox and the Independence Patriots overwhelmed Richmond County 47-19 this past week, in a North Carolina Class 4A semifinal in which many thought the Pats would face their stiffest test of the year. Cox threw for 302 yards and two touchdowns, moving his season total to 62 scoring passes on the year. With two TD passes in the state final, Cox ties the state single season record set by former Independence and EA SPORTS Elite 11 QB and current Florida Gator QB Chris Leak.

Chase Daniel and the top-ranked Southlake Carroll Dragons defeated Denton Ryan in their regional final this past week to setup a state semifinal matchup against a very talented and nationally top 10 ranked Lufkin squad. The Dragons, who have played their first three playoff games in Texas Stadium, will have to travel to Waco this week and meet Lufkin halfway in what should be a great matchup.

Mission Viejo and QB Mark Sanchez continued to cruise through the CIF Southern Section Division II playoffs this past week, pounding Upland 48-21 as Sanchez threw for a season-high 243 yards. The Diablos face Valencia and hotshot junior QB Michael Herrick in the final this Saturday at Edison Field.

Willie Tuitama and his St. Mary's Rams are also playing for a Section title this Saturday, battling Nevada Union of Grass Valley at the University of Pacific in Stockton. Tuitama has now totaled over 2,400 yards and 27 TDs on the season, and the Rams have won 12 straight since losing by one point in their opener.
