2017 Tiger Mailbag: 27th Edition

Every week, PowerMizzou.com publisher Gabe DeArmond answers questions from Tiger fans in the mailbag. This format allows for a more expansive answer than a message board post. Keep your eye out each week to submit your question for the mailbag or send them to powermizzou@gmail.com. On to this week's inquiries.

MIZ25! asks: Why were you running late for your flight Sunday Morning and better yet why only 1 shoe?

GD: You guys are gonna be so disappointed in this answer. It would be fun if there was a really good story behind it, but alas, I'm just old. My alarm at the hotel was on silent so I woke up 50 minutes later than planned. Of course, I was flying out of Atlanta which is the airport security version of Clark Griswold in the roundabout in European vacation--I found myself muttering "Look, kids! Big Ben, Parliament" while in line with 400 other people. I also had a gout attack last week, which meant it took me about a minute and a half to get my right shoe on. So when I got through security and my plane was due to take off in 13 minutes, I figured my best shot was to carry the shoe and hobble to the gate. Made the flight by about two minutes.

mexicojoe asks: If the Tigers finish the season with 7-9 wins and go to a bowl, What would be a Bowl town you would be glad to go to?  I am assuming Shreveport & Memphis are not on your list.

GD: That would likely put the Tigers in the Texas/Liberty/Belk/Outback/Music City/Tax Slayer pod. I never turn down a trip to Nashville so Music City would be my first choice (it's also drivable). Next would probably be the Tax Slayer because I've never covered it and I like Jacksonville more than most people do. The Belk would be decent as I've never spent any time in Charlotte. After that, give me the Liberty because I can drive there, then the Texas (only because it's the closest of the two left) then the Outback.

jrl3m8 asks: What have been the top 5 most active days on the message board in PM history?

GD: I don't actually have the numbers in front of me. But if I had to guess, in some order, I'd go with:

DGB commitment, the day we had the news Michael Porter Jr. was in play and Cuonzo Martin got hired (this is likely No. 1), Porter Jr's commitment, Gary Pinkel's resignation and--even though it's not one day--the 48-72 hours after the tweet announcing the football boycott.

J'Mon Moore
J'Mon Moore (Jordan Kodner)

mexicojoe asks: Which would be more indicative of an above expectations season:(Assume all are healthy, no suspensions etc)1) Lock throws for 3500 yds and 28 td's. 2) Crockett rushes for 1200 yds3) Moore surpasses 1200 yds4) Somebody other than Moore exceds 700 yds receiving5) Somebody other than Crockett exceeds 700 yds rushing6) Team as a whole is at least plus 10 in turnovers

GD: In order:

6, 5, 1, 2, 4, 3

Six is the only one that's really a team accomplishment. And I think the supporting casts are more important than the top rusher or receiver. Had you added a caveat to No. 1 that said "and has fewer than ten interceptions" I might have put Lock's season No. 1.

mizzoudad asks:  I am looking at the first game, MSU, as a peek into the season... How do you view it? Show up one week, not the next?? Just another game? I think HCBO attitude will be on display on the field... I hope they have a collective BA attitude...
