Alexanders status updated for Husker game

The Missouri Tigers open Big XII play against Nebraska this Saturday night and they will do so at full strength. Gary Pinkel said on Monday morning that injured wide receiver Danario Alexander would play against the Cornhuskers.

"He's been looking pretty good in practice," Pinkel said during the Big XII coaches' call. "We expect him to play. He's been catching the ball pretty good. A little bit out of shape in terms of stamina, but I think he'll be ready to go."
Alexander caught a team-high nine passes for 82 yards in the season-opener against Illinois, but suffered a fractured wrist in the fourth quarter. The Tigers had been targeting this as an optimistic return date for the sophomore wideout.
In Alexander's place, redshirt freshman Jeremy Maclin entered the starting lineup. Maclin has caught 21 passes for 244 yards and three touchdowns (all second on the team). He has also run ten times for 122 yards and a score.
The Tigers and Huskers kick off at 8:15 at Faurot Field in front of what is expected to be one of the largest crowds in Memorial Stadium history.
"I just hope we give them enough to yell about. We'll have a heck of a crowd and it will be a great college atmosphere, no question about that," Pinkel said. "This is why you get in this business, to have games like this, to be a part of them."
